The exams are over and students are either at vacation or at home. Those who are out, enjoying with their family, don’t really need this. But those who are at home with nothing to do or just scrolling through their devices and still getting bored, this is just the right place for you. We will get to the ideas of how to enjoy your holiday later, but first let me give you a bit of my experience.
So, after the winter holidays started, I knew I had to do something other than sticking my eyes to the screen all day. And luckily, my mother asked my elder sister (cousin) to take me to New Market, near Dhaka University. Since as a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), she went there very often and also read a lot of books during her childhood and knew just what to get for me. She knew that I love to read books and she took me to a lot of shops in book market Nilkheth area but couldn’t find good books so we went to New Market. It was my first time there and it was AWESOME! There were shops here and there but not crowded and the products looked so pretty. Now we went to a book shop and bought 6 books: Harry Potter 5th and 6th books, Insurgent (of the Divergent series), The Hunger Games (1st book), Da Vinci Code and The Fault in Our Stars. I finished the Harry Potter books and now starting the Insurgent book.

The shop owner was an interesting fellow as he fascinated us for an hour with a lot of stories about himself and giving us advice like writing book reviews and so on. I enjoyed it but my legs gave out so I pretended my shoelaces were untied and sat down on one knee to give my legs some rest and took as long as I could. After we walked out, my sister said she went there before and took me to this particular shop to give me this experience. I mean it was fun but also kind of exhausting. Anyways then we got to an art store and bought a canvas and art supplies.
Here are a few glimpses of the books I finished and am currently reading. The first book I completed was obviously Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (the fifth book). This book kind of broke my heart at the end that I had to cry. And mind you, I don’t cry easily. So it starts off with the usual, Harry staying at his Muggle (non-magic people) and then, Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, forms the Order of Phoenix consisting of an auror (people who look for Voldemort and his followers) from the Ministry of Magic, Mad-Eye Moody.
I want to say that the children who like reading books should definitely buy their wanted books and devour them. And for those who like creativity-related activities you can try art, singing, journaling and other things of your choice. This not only prevents children from getting addicted to their devices and be out of touch with reality or other important things but also their mental and physical health. Also, I recommend taking part in various social service or similar activities (if there is one in your area) or take part in competitions and meet ups with family or friends.
Try to enjoy your holidays creatively and attempt to use devices as less as possible. Stay safe and enjoy your vacations.
