To strengthen road safety, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) organized a training workshop titled “Improving Accuracy in Crash Data Entry, Correction, and Cleaning”. The workshop was held on Thursday (April 9, 2026) at the CMP Headquarters in Dampara, with support from international organization Vital Strategies under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).

The workshop, aimed at improving the capacity of CMP’s Road Safety Cell members, was inaugurated by Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Mr. Wahidul Hoque Chowdhury. He stated that the training would help police personnel accurately collect and report road crash data. He emphasized that analyzing such data would play a crucial role in taking effective measures to prevent road crashes and reduce fatalities.

During the workshop, Mr. Kazi Saifun Newaz, Surveillance Coordinator of BIGRS Chattogram conducted sessions on road crash data collection, proper completion of the Accident Report Form (ARF), as well as data correction and cleaning processes.

He conducted a session on recording ARF data both manually and digitally. Participants were then guided on verifying and correcting recorded data. In the final session, common mistakes made while filling out ARF forms were highlighted. Previously completed forms from different CMP police stations were presented, and participants identified and corrected errors in those forms.

The workshop was attended by Assistant Police Commissioner Nurul Islam Siddique, who is in charge of the CMP Road Safety Cell, along with Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Sergeants, and operators from 16 police stations. Among others present was Mr. Labib Tazone, Initiative Coordinator, Mr. Quazi Helal Uddin, Enforcement Coordinator of BIGRS Chattogram.
